Author Guidelines

These guidelines are designed to assist authors in preparing and submitting manuscripts to IJMCRH. Submissions must adhere to these guidelines to be considered for peer review. Non-compliant manuscripts may be returned without review.

  1. General Requirements
  • Scope and Fit: Manuscripts must align with the journal's Aims and Scope. We welcome original contributions that advance knowledge in maternal health, child and adolescent health, reproductive health, public health epidemiology, and multidisciplinary topics (e.g., policy, equity, environmental impacts). Priority is given to studies from Indonesia and low- to middle-income countries.
  • Originality and Exclusivity: Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Plagiarism or duplicate publication will result in rejection and potential sanctions.
  • Language: English (preferred for international visibility) or Indonesian. Use clear, concise, and inclusive language. Non-native speakers are encouraged to use professional editing services.
  • Article Types and Word Limits (excluding abstract, references, tables, figures, and supplementary materials):
    • Original Research: Empirical studies (quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods); 3,000–6,000 words, up to 30 references.
    • Systematic Reviews/Meta-Analyses: Evidence syntheses following PRISMA guidelines; 3,000–5,000 words, up to 40 references.
    • Literature Reviews: Narrative or scoping reviews; 2,500–4,500 words, up to 40 references.
    • Policy Briefs: Concise policy analyses or recommendations; 1,500–3,000 words, up to 15 references.
    • Case Studies/Field Reports: Descriptions of interventions or programs; 2,000–4,000 words, up to 15 references.
  • Reporting Standards: Use appropriate checklists and submit them as supplementary files:
    • CONSORT for randomized trials.
    • STROBE for observational studies.
    • PRISMA for systematic reviews/meta-analyses.
    • COREQ/SRQR for qualitative research.
    • CARE for case reports.
  • Ethical Standards:
    • Comply with the Declaration of Helsinki for human subjects or equivalent for non-clinical research.
    • Obtain Institutional Review Board (IRB)/Ethics Committee approval; include approval number, date, and institution in the methods section.
    • Secure informed consent (written or verbal, as appropriate) from participants or guardians for minors/vulnerable groups.
    • For animal studies, follow ARRIVE guidelines.
    • Declare all conflicts of interest (COI) using the ICMJE form (submit as a separate file).
    • Acknowledge funding sources with grant details.
    • Include a data availability statement (e.g., "Data are available in  …" or "Data available upon reasonable request from the corresponding author").
    • Register clinical or interventional trials and provide the registration number.
    • Disclose use of AI tools in the methods or acknowledgments; AI cannot be an author.
  • Authorship: Follow ICMJE criteria (all four must be met: substantial contribution, drafting/revising, final approval, accountability). List contributions using CRediT taxonomy in the acknowledgments. Maximum 10 authors unless justified; submit signed authorship form.
  • References: Use APA 7th Edition. Minimum 20 references for research articles (at least 80% from the last 10 years, preferably peer-reviewed journals). Include DOIs/URLs where available.

 

  1. Manuscript Preparation
  • Formatting:
    • File Type: Microsoft Word (.docx).
    • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt.
    • Spacing: Double-spaced throughout.
    • Margins: 2.5 cm (1 inch) on all sides, typed on A4 size HVS paper.
    • Page Numbers: Bottom center.
    • Units: Use SI units (e.g., kg, mL); generic names for drugs.
    • Abbreviations: Define at first use (e.g., World Health Organization (WHO)).
    • Inclusive Language: Use gender-neutral terms (e.g., "birthing persons" where appropriate); avoid stigmatizing language.
  • Structure (for Original Research; adapt for other types):
    • Title Page (separate file for double-blind review):
      • Title: Concise and informative (max 15 words).
      • Authors: Full names, affiliations, SINTA ID, and ORCID iDs.
      • Corresponding Author: Name, email, phone, address.
      • Keywords: 3–5 (use MeSH terms from PubMed).
      • Word Count: Main text only.
      • Declarations: Conflicts of interest, funding, ethics approval, data availability, AI use, acknowledgments, author contributions.
    • Abstract: Presented in structured paragraph written  in English and Bahasa Indonesia. Structured (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions); 200–250 words. For reviews/briefs: Unstructured but comprehensive. Include 3–5 keywords below.
    • Main Text:
      • Introduction: Provide context, literature gap, objectives/aims.
      • Methods: Detail study design, participants (inclusion/exclusion criteria), setting, data collection/tools, analysis (statistical software, tests used), ethics.
      • Results: Present findings objectively with tables/figures. Include brief interpretations for clarity (e.g., "The intervention reduced maternal mortality by 20% (p<0.05), suggesting..."). No discussion here.
      • Discussion: Interpret results, compare with existing literature, discuss limitations, strengths, implications for practice/policy.
      • Conclusions: Summarize key findings, recommendations, future directions.
    • References: Generated automatically by Mendeley Reference Manager in APA 7th Edition style. In-text: (Author, Year). Example: Smith, J. (2020). Title. Journal, Volume(Issue), pages. https://doi.org/xxx.
    • Tables and Figures: Maximum 6 combined. Number consecutively (Table 1, Figure 1), place embed in text. Please follow these instructions in writing the table: (1) Written in 1 spaced format, Times new roman font, 10 pt font size, no bold, centred; (2) title should be written at the top before the table; (3) Format table uses open table; (4) Not allowed to exceed the margin of writing. Please follow these instructions in writing the figure: (1) Written in 1 spaces, Times new roman font, 9pt font size, bold, centred; (2) the title of the image is written at the bottom of the image; (3) Not allowed to exceed the writing margin
    • Supplementary Materials: Optional (e.g., datasets, questionnaires). Cite in text as "Supplementary Table S1".
  • Accessibility: Use alt-text for figures in the Word file.

 

  1. Submission Process
  • Online Submission: Use the journal's system (e.g., Open Journal Systems - OJS, to be hosted at jurnal.auria.co.id/index.php/ijmcrh). Create an account and follow prompts.
  • Required Files:
    • Cover Letter: Explain novelty, fit to journal, suggested reviewers (3 non-affiliated experts), and any disclosures.
    • Title Page (unblinded).
    • Main Manuscript (blinded: remove author names, affiliations, identifying details).
    • Supplementary Files: Ethics proof, reporting checklists, COI forms, authorship form.
  • Fees: No submission or APC during the initial phase.
  • Peer Review: Double-blind; initial editorial decision in 4-7 days; full review in 2–4 weeks. Decisions: Accept, Minor/Major Revisions, Reject.
  • Revisions: Respond point-by-point to reviewers; use track changes in revised manuscript.
  • Post-Acceptance: Authors review proofs within 48–72 hours. Articles published online-first under CC BY 4.0.

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
